Binance Coin, or BNB, is the native coin of the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, Binance. Launched in 2017, this coin was originally on the Ethereum blockchain, but eventually moved to the Binance exchange and is now used as a utility token to facilitate trading. It is also used for payments on a number of other services such as; travel bookings, entertainment and financial services. The goal of the Binance exchange is to bring cryptoassets to the forefront of the financial world, and their name is a portmanteau of Binary Finance, reflecting their mission to simplify cryptocurrency and make it available to all. They boast a massive 1.4 million transactions per second, and provide the exchange across multiple devices, making it easy to trade anywhere. The coins are traded under the symbol BNB. As of September 2021, there are 150 million BNB coins in circulation, with a maximum capped at 200 million.
